I was born in the north of England in 1962, and trained at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University before a succesful career in graphic design and illustration. I completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education at Cambridge University and moved to New York to teach art.

I paint in several styles across many genres and media: having made large abstract paintings as a younger artist I now create smaller work in watercolor and egg tempera. I still work in an abstract style using ink and collage influenced by calligraphy and letter forms. I recently learned how to paint Byzantine icons which has had an interesting effect on my portraiture.

I have exhibited all over the world, most recently at the Smack Melon Gallery in Brooklyn and Princeton University. Several of my pieces are in private collections in America and the UK.
